The CleanBC Rebate

What is it? The CleanBC Rebate program is a retroactive rebate program that allows homeowners to receive support based off of the upgrades they have made.

How much is up for grabs? The amount of money available depends on the retrofit options chosen. With up to $6000 available if a Heat Pump was chosen and your current heating source is oil, propane or natural gas. Other opportunities available are up to $5000 for insulation and $2000 for windows ($100 per window). More detailed information can be found here.

Is there bonuses? Yes. There is 2 options for bonus money through the CleanBC Rebate program, depending on how many distinct upgrades you make. These upgrades options come from the Pre-Retrofit Evaluation, the same one completed for the Greener Home program (double dipping). $300 is available for homeowners who make 2 upgrades while up to $2000 is available for 3 or more upgrades. Who qualifies? The same people that qualify for the Greener Homes Grant can apply for the CleanBC Rebate. Homeowners that live in the home year round, in a home that is at least 12 months old.

How does the process work?

  • Decide on which energy efficiency upgrades to complete. If you plan on also applying for the Greener Homes Program the mandatory Pre-retrofit Evaluation is a great source of information.
  • If you are planning on utilizing both programs make sure you apply for the Greener Homes Program and have the Pre-Eval completed prior to the next step.
  • Contact your contractor and have the work completed.
  • Apply for the rebate within 6 months of paying the final invoice.
